Jamie Adams Receives Excellence in Athletic Training Award
San Diego, CA (PRWEB) May 19, 2017 -- The FWATA Public Relations Committee is pleased to announce the spring quarter winner of the Excellence in Athletic Training Award. Each quarter, the Excellence in Athletic Training Award celebrates District 8 athletic trainers or athletic training student members who display an exceptional commitment to mentoring, professional development or enhancing the quality of health care.
This quarter’s winner is Jamie Adams MEd, ATC, NASM-CES. Jamie is the head athletic trainer at Cuyamaca's College and a preceptor for the San Diego State University Athletic Training Education Program (ATEP). Jamie is currently the CATA Public Relations Committee Chair. Recently Jamie spear headed a meeting with the California School Employees Association to see if athletic trainers agreed with the language of their job description. It appears they may be reclassified to a rate close or equal to the school nurses (RNs). Currently athletic trainers are in the 37 salary range and nurses are 45. Once sent to to the district and approved for the funding it could set a standard for more Community College athletic trainers to gain increases in status and salary.
"Jamie has been non-stop in advocating and promoting athletic trainers in California and is very deserving of the Excellence in AT award," states District Director and nominator Carolyn Peters.
Jamie was quoted as saying, "I am so honored to receive this award! There are so many amazing athletic trainers in the Far West Athletic Trainers Association! I know that I would not be where I am today without many of them mentoring and guiding me. Thank you to all who awarded me the Excellence in Athletic Training Award! It is truly an honor!"
Please join us in congratulating Jamie on winning the Excellence in Athletic Training Award!
