MyScript Partners with The Qt Company and KDAB to Create a New and Non-distractive Input Method for the Automotive Industry
ESPOO, FINLAND; BERLIN; AND NANTES, FRANCE (PRWEB) October 09, 2017 -- MyScript, a pioneering market leader in accurate, high-performance handwriting recognition and interactive digital ink technology, today announces a partnership with both The Qt Company and Klarälvdalens Datakonsult AB (KDAB) to offer MyScript’s handwriting input technology for the Qt Automotive Suite. This tech integration will enable multimodal input capabilities using the existing Qt Virtual Keyboard or a new handwriting input panel powered by MyScript technology. All Qt Automotive Suite partners can now benefit from achieving a faster time-to-market and ease the integration of low distraction handwriting recognition into their solutions.
“The automotive industry’s demand for safer dashboard interfaces is increasing. Qt Automotive Suite now has a proven off-the-shelf handwriting input solution to deliver a safer, low-distraction input solution. Now, you can write however you want, character by character, including superimposed characters or even superimposed portions of cursive words. MyScript’s recognition engine automatically adapts to your handwriting style,” said Olivier Cros, global automotive business director at MyScript. “We are excited to partner with The Qt Company and KDAB to deliver the most advanced car HMI technology to the industry.”
“With the Qt Automotive Suite, we’re not just enabling the faster creation of digital cockpits, we’re also creating a ‘Works with Qt Automotive Suite’ ecosystem of third-party components that works out of the box, eliminating the integration effort for our customers,” said Alistair Adams, head of automotive product management at The Qt Company. “With MyScript’s differentiated handwriting technology as part of the ecosystem, our customers can get started much faster in the creation of great in-car user experiences.”
“MyScript technology offers a highly intuitive user interface and is a great complement to the Qt Automotive framework,” said Volker Krause, automotive director at KDAB. “We are very excited to partner with MyScript and bring the advantages of multimodal functionality to the automotive cockpit. We look forward to a successful business relationship for the benefit of our mutual partners and customers.”
All 20 languages provided by Qt Virtual Keyboard are supported with the new handwriting solution, including most Latin languages, also including Cyrillic, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese and Korean. Word completion, word prediction and editing features are also included in the contribution software provided.
KDAB will be demonstrating the powerful new features and advancements created for Qt partners at the Qt World Summit in Berlin on Oct. 10, 2017.
