Bunny Brunel & CAB to Perform “Feast & Fusion” at the Back Bay Bistro on October 14, 2017 in Newport Beach in Association with EnterTalk Radio, Jackie's Groove, & AGENDA
(PRWEB) October 12, 2017 -- "From Grammy-nominated bassist to French chef, is there no end to Bunny Brunel’s skills? The American, French-born musician, bass designer and creator of the Bunny Brunel Electric Upright Bass (BBEUB) is also a published author of countless instructional books . . . oh wait, did we mention that he was also an instructor, too . . . well, he is also an incredible cook! He’s a gourmet chef, who attended l’Ecole Hôtelière de Nice, and learned everything there is to know about running a hotel, including preparing gourmet cuisine – everything from ratatouille to an apple tart. Bunny demonstrates his culinary prowess; and sets the tone for the first of many Feast & Fusion concerts, where he will cook in the kitchen and “cook” with his fusion band CAB on stage. On Saturday, October 14, 2017, 2-time Grammy-nominated bassist Bunny Brunel and his award-winning band CAB will be performing the first of many Feast & Fusion concerts, where Bunny Brunel will be presenting a gourmet entrée on the menu at the Back Bay Bistro (Newport Dunes Resort) in Newport Beach. The doors open at 6:00pm, followed by an exclusive V.I.P. cooking presentation by Bunny Brunel himself. This is followed by a special performance by CAB at 7:30pm." Quoted from AGENDA Magazine (http://www.agendamag.com/chef-bunny-brunel-feast-fusion/)
For this special concert, Feast and Fusion, Bunny Brunel will prepare a signature dish—the "Bunny Brunel Gambas À L’Armoricaine Jumbo Shrimp Sautéed in a Tomato Cognac Sauce served over Ratatouille." Foodies, chefs, and cooking hobbyists, as well as serious jazz lovers will come together for the first time at the Back Bay Bistro to enjoy this fine dining and fine music.
“ . . . I graduated from a college for hotels; I like the cooking [the best] because it was artistic. So that’s why I kind of excelled, especially in that department. Cooking is fun for me. I recommend for people to do what’s fun for them, whatever excites you.”
–Bunny Brunel
Bunny Brunel wanted to accommodate vegetarians and vegans when he chose to prepare the ratatouille, and his decision to prepare the Gambas (big shrimp) with Amoricaine sauce was selected for its uniqueness. “I wanted to prepare something different. People do not usually eat that kind of sauce here. And when you’re cooking for a lot of people, it’s better to do something that can be cooked ahead. I have to have the time. I’m playing.” He continues and chuckles, “I cannot be in the kitchen and playing [my bass] at the same time!”
Kaylene Peoples will open the show with some traditional vocal jazz before CAB pumps it up with their high-energy set. Drummer Virgil Donati has become a household name, and is the driving “beat” behind CAB—not the first drummer of CAB, but Donati has been a fixture in the Grammy-nominated band since the release of CAB LIVE in 2002. Known for his performances with some of the greatest jazz legends of our time, including Astrud Gilberto and John McLaughlin, pianist Mitchell Forman has been performing with CAB for years and brings a unique flavor to CAB’s sound during live performances. Julian Coryell, a new addition to CAB, is a virtuoso guitarist and the son of legendary Larry Coryell; and Kaylene Peoples is an accomplished flutist. Her presence adds a unique flavor to the band.
Feast and Fusion describes perfectly what the audience will experience, and is the first event of its kind at the Back Bay Bistro. Not only is the cuisine superb, but the venue is known for its breathtaking views and agreeable acoustics. Home to the sun-drenched climate of Southern California, and tucked away in the ecological reserves of the Newport Dunes, the Back Bay Bistro has become the ultimate destination among both locals and tourists to experience unparalleled cuisine. It’s the place for waterfront dining in Newport Beach. With fifteen-foot high panoramic and a retractable roof, the waterfront patio provides the perfect ambiance to enjoy great food and delicious cocktails, while listening to world-class music and watching luxury yachts cruise along the sparkling waters of Newport Bay.
