U.S. Security Associates Security Officer Hailed as a Hero for Saving a Life
ATLANTA (PRWEB) February 22, 2018 -- A U.S. Security Associates (USA) Security Officer is being hailed a hero for saving the life of his colleague. Security Officer Victor Reyes, who serves as the Assistant Public Safety Director at a high-end multi-use retail center in Glendale, CA, provided the necessary emergency response measures when fellow Security Officer Andreas Hernandez suffered a medical crisis and collapsed.
Patrons at the Glendale retail center alerted security personnel to the unfolding emergency. Officer Reyes, the first to respond, found Officer Hernandez unresponsive and with a fixed, open-eye gaze.
Suspecting a seizure as the cause, Officer Reyes rolled Officer Hernandez to his side to open his airways and facilitate better breathing. Initially, Officer Hernandez positively responded and began to breathe easier.
The improvement proved brief - soon afterwards, Officer Hernandez once again became nonresponsive and stopped breathing. Unable to locate a pulse, Officer Reyes requested an AED and began CPR compressions. He continued the life-saving measures until emergency responders arrived on the scene and took over. Officer Hernandez was stabilized at the scene and transported to the area hospital where he remained in ICU for several days. Officer Hernandez has since been released from the hospital and is recovering at home, grateful for his fellow Officer’s immediate and life-saving response. Emergency responders indicated had it not been for Officer Reyes’ prompt and correct response the outcome would have been very different.
The USA Security Officers are often the pre-first responders to emergencies at client sites, arriving well in advance of medical responders, police and fire fighters.
