SAN FRANCISCO (PRWEB) April 10, 2018 -- Modsy, a personalized home design solution that utilizes advanced 3D visualization technology to change the way consumers decorate and shop for their homes, announced today that Sam MacDonnell has joined the company as its CTO. MacDonnell, former HotelTonight CTO, will report directly to Modsy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Shanna Tellerman and will be based in the company’s San Francisco headquarters.
MacDonnell’s appointment comes at a time where Modsy is rapidly accelerating the growth and expansion of its business and partnerships, as well as its technology innovation efforts. In December 2017, the company announced it raised its Series B round of $23 million and is poised to continue to disrupt the furniture shopping and home design industry.
MacDonnell will be responsible for driving Modsy’s aggressive product roadmap forward, and further strengthening the company’s proprietary 3D technology and current processes in order to deliver a simple and delightful experience that redefines how people shop for products in their homes.
“When it comes to building world class product and engineering teams, Modsy couldn’t be in better hands than we are with Sam,” said Modsy CEO Shanna Tellerman. “We’re moving fast and now more than ever before, we need to build the right solutions and have the right team in place to ensure smart, scalable growth. Having worked with Sam before at Autodesk, I know firsthand that his breadth of experience in growing companies combined with his unique background in 3D visualization and ecommerce will be invaluable. We couldn’t be happier to welcome Sam to the Modsy family!”
MacDonnell joins Modsy from HotelTonight, a popular mobile hotel booking application, where he spent four and a half years as the company’s CTO. He was responsible for building its mobile ecommerce experience, which has a 4.8 star average from 200,000 App Store reviews. Before HotelTonight, he worked at Autodesk to simplify the 3D modeling and visualization experience for prosumers and did similar work at Adobe for 2D prosumer and consumer experiences.
“Over the course of my career I’ve had incredible opportunities to help build, grow, and scale technology companies with the potential and ability to disrupt their respective industries,” said Sam MacDonnell, Modsy CTO. “I jumped at the opportunity to work with Shanna and the Modsy team. The product is already extremely sophisticated and I can’t wait to expand upon its foundation. At the end of the day, I know Modsy is a game changer and will be the dominant way people shop for furniture and decor in the near future. There is just nothing like it out there, especially in terms of price and quality.”
