Miltenyi Biotec Will Highlight Tools for Dissecting the Tumor Microenvironment in a Two-part Webinar Series
YORBA LINDA, Calif. (PRWEB) May 01, 2018 -- Recent advances in immuno-oncology research has proven the critical role of immune cells in cancer therapy. Deep understanding of the interaction and phenotype of immune and tumor cells within the tumor microenvironment is key to developing future immune-based cancer therapy strategies.
However, the most significant challenge to working with solid tumors is the need to dissociate the samples before their use in downstream applications such as immunomagnetic enrichment, flow cytometry, and single-cell sequencing. Furthermore, tumor cells can cause background signals and introduce bias to the analysis of immune cells.
In this first of two webinars, which is sponsored Miltenyi Biotec, participants will learn to optimize and automate dissociation of tumor tissue resulting in high yield, viability, and improved cell surface marker detection. They will learn best practices for the analysis of tumor cells by flow cytometry and how isolation and analysis of tumor-infiltrating immune cell subpopulations (TILs).
Dr. Olaf Hardt, a manager of R&D Oncology at Miltenyi Biotec, will be the speaker for this event. Hardt obtained his doctorate from the University of Cologne, in collaboration with Miltenyi Biotec and the IBDML in Marseille, before he started as R&D Project Manager at Miltenyi Biotec in 2008. In his current position as Manager R&D Oncology, he focuses on immuno-oncology preclinical research, target discovery, as well as oncology-related product development. He also heads the transgenic unit and animal facility.
LabRoots will host the webinar May 24, 2018, beginning at 9 a.m. PDT, 5 p.m. CET. To learn more about this event, the continuing education credits offer, or to register for free, click here.
