Metrus Energy Releases New Impact Report: Report Takes Holistic Look at Overall Carbon Impact
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) July 12, 2023 -- Metrus Energy, an Energy as a Service (EaaS) and building efficiency market leader, announced the release of its 2022 Impact Report today. Metrus is the sole energy as a service company to publish such a report. Notably, in this year’s report Metrus has disclosed its own emissions in addition to the emissions saved on behalf of its customers.
Metrus' customer projects, implemented through Sustainable Energy Services Agreement (SESA) initiatives, span across 32 states and encompass more than 760 sites. These projects, incorporating 30 different energy efficiency measures and technologies, achieved a total CO2 savings of 109,937 metric tons in 2022. Additionally, they saved 332,384,704 kWh of electricity, 319,377 therms of natural gas, 215,995 gallons of oil, and 25,996,616 gallons of water.
Adding up its scopes one, two, and three emissions, including emissions from its customer projects, Metrus had a total of 49,362 metric tons of CO2 emissions. As a result, the net savings across the Metrus portfolio in 2022 amounted to 60,575 metric tons of CO2.
Scope one emissions refer to direct greenhouse gas emissions from sources controlled by an organization, scope two emissions encompass indirect emissions from purchased electricity, and scope three emissions cover all other indirect emissions throughout an organization's value chain, including activities such as business travel and supply chain operations.
The lifetime CO2 savings across the Metrus portfolio, spanning the 14 years Metrus has been in business, is 795,483 metric tons, which is the equivalent of taking 25,972 cars off the road.
"Disclosure alone is not enough to make a significant impact on climate change; it requires corresponding action," emphasized Bob Hinkle, Founder and CEO of Metrus. "The Impact Report can act as a model for providing a comprehensive understanding of our business's environmental impact and we believe it can act as a catalyst for change.”
