EBSCO Health's DynaMed Plus™ Available for All NHS Scotland Staff and Students to the Latest Clinical Evidence
IPSWICH, Mass. (PRWEB) December 02, 2015 -- EBSCO Health and NHS Education for Scotland’s Knowledge Services have partnered to make DynaMed Plus™ available to all NHS Scotland staff and students, reaffirming its dedication to providing clinicians with innovative technology for point-of-care decision support. This gives users access to the most current, evidence-based information available when they are making healthcare decisions.
Programme Director for Knowledge Management in NES, and clinical decision support lead for the Scottish Government eHealth programme, Dr. Ann Wales, says that providing access to DynaMed Plus supports an important strategy for NHS Scotland. “The National Knowledge into Action strategy for Scotland’s Health and Social Services aims to provide information to assist healthcare decisions in the workplace. DynaMed Plus, as well as the other resources from EBSCO Health, support this strategy and provide comprehensive coverage and frequent, reliable updates, bringing vital knowledge to the clinicians’ fingertips, at the bedside and in the clinic and community.”
DynaMed Plus is updated daily to produce a collection of the most current evidence curated from more than 500 medical journals. It incorporates National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) and the Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network (SIGN) guidelines. It also integrates with drug information in the British National Formulary to ensure that local requirements are linked with international research to provide the best decision support information for staff and students in Scotland. The Royal College of General Practitioners has awarded DynaMed Accreditation as a learning tool so General Practitioners who are members of the RCGP can use DynaMed to support their revalidation and earn Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credits.
In addition to including the most current and relevant evidence, DynaMed Plus has features and a structure to speed the time to answer for users. The bulleted summary of topics offers the most concise, evidence-based recommendations with easily accessible supporting references. Additionally, it includes a semantic search functionality and a “Follow” feature that allows users to set up alerts when topics are updated with new evidence and guidelines.
Physicians are relying on smartphones more and more so the DynaMed Plus mobile app is free and available for Android and iOS platforms. The mobile app is designed to operate regardless of network connectivity to help overcome an issue that many physicians face with inconsistent mobile service. DynaMed Plus will be updated when it is connected to the network but once content is downloaded, a physician can use the mobile app even if there is a poor signal or no signal at all.
“DynaMed Plus was designed with evidence from actual physicians to provide them with a tool that fits within their workflow and provides quick access to the clinical information they need wherever and whenever they need it,” said Betsy Jones, chief content officer and vice president of Medical Product Management, EBSCO Health. “DynaMed Plus is the only solution on the market today to provide clear and concise, yet information-rich summaries that include evidence to support our grading recommendation. This is how physicians know they can trust our clinical recommendations.”
Released earlier this year, DynaMed Plus builds upon the strengths of DynaMed™, which has been an NHS Scotland preferred point-of-care resource since 2012. Other EBSCO Health resources available to NHS Scotland staff and students include Nursing Reference Center™ Plus and Rehabilitation Reference Center™.
