Jaquelyn M. Howard’s Book Finds New Relevance as Nature Films, Books Gain Attention
ARLINGTON, Va. (PRWEB) September 27, 2014 -- Author and avian field biologist Jacquelyn M. Howard creates a literary documentary of birds in her nonfiction collection, “Tale Feathers: A Celebration of Birds, Birders and Bird Watching” (published by iUniverse). This collection follows in the successful tradition of nature documentaries focused on birds such as the iconic BBC production “The Life Of Birds” hosted by Sir David Attenborough, as well as “Winged Migration” and “March of the Penguins,” and more recent wildlife films such as 2014’s “Bears” and 2012’s “Chimpanzee,” which continue to do well in box offices.
Organized into three sections on birds, birders and bird watching, “Tale Feathers” features writings on a number of topics related to birds. Bird owners share their favorite bird stories and bird watchers offer their best advice for sighting birds in the wild.
From poems to personal and historical essays, the book reflects on varying aspects of birds, including behaviors, flight patterns and the historical significance of different types of birds. In their individual ways, the contributing writers reflect on the deep connections they share with birds of all shapes and sizes.
Praise for “Tale Feathers”:
“From Antarctica, to Panama, to your own backyard, ‘Tale Feathers’ celebrates the delightful experience of birding and the wonder of birds. Whether you are an ardent birder, a beginner, or just want to share your passion for birds with others, this book is for you.”
—Merrie Morrison,
Vice President of Operations, American Bird Conservancy
“Thanks you very much for sending me a copy of your book. I am very flattered that you should have included Gareth Huw Davies very complimentary piece [on me].”
With best wishes,
Sir David Attenborough
