MACH37 Adds MITRE to Network as Member
Herndon, VA (PRWEB) September 29, 2016 -- The MACH37 Cyber Accelerator announced today that The MITRE Corporation has agreed to participate as a MACH37 Member.
The MITRE Corporation is a not-for-profit company that operates multiple federally funded research and development centers. MITRE works in partnership with the government, applying systems engineering and advanced technology to address issues of critical national importance.
“MITRE boasts an impressive resume in our industry as an innovative organization that solves critical challenges in areas such defense and intelligence, homeland security and cybersecurity. We are excited to announce the addition of MITRE to the budding MACH37 network and will look to tap into their breadth of expertise and experience as we push forward,” said Rick Gordon, MACH37 Managing Partner. “Our portfolio’s diverse set of cybersecurity product companies and entrepreneurs will be able to receive invaluable support and direction from the high performing and industry-leading team at MITRE.”
As a MACH37 Member, MITRE will receive access to the leading edge information security entrepreneurs and innovators that make up the MACH37 portfolio. MITRE will also participate on the MACH37 Executive Advisory board, which helps guide the accelerator’s innovation strategy and provides input on the selection of companies that will be accepted into the program.
“MITRE is delighted to work with CIT and MACH37. We see it as an invaluable opportunity to discover innovative new technologies of potential use to our federal sponsors. In addition, this collaboration will enable us to help cybersecurity start-ups build technical solutions that can protect commercial industry as well as critical private infrastructure,” said Barry Costa, MITRE's Director of Technology Transfer.
“The federal government is one of the largest markets in the world for innovative cybersecurity products and services. CIT welcomes the addition of MITRE to the group of industry leaders supporting the MACH37 Cyber Accelerator and for the expertise and federal agency mission insight that MITRE will bring to our portfolio companies. We believe MITRE’s leadership will inspire other federal government organizations to join our organization and bring cyber innovation to the federal sector,” said Ed Albrigo, President and CEO of the Center for Innovative Technology.
Founded by the Center for Innovative Technology (CIT) and initially funded by the Virginia General Assembly, MACH37 is an intense 90-day program in which competitively selected startups are coached in all aspects of creating a successful and sustainable business. At the end of each session, the startups participate in a Demo Day where they pitch to a crowd of investors and industry experts. The Fall 2016 (F16) Cohort is currently in session and will culminate at Demo Day on December 6th, 2016. Upon completion of the F16 program, MACH37 will have launched 40 innovative cyberecurity startups in just three years. The addition of MITRE to the MACH37 Network expands an already strong group of supporters that includes General Dynamics Mission Systems, Amazon Web Services, and SAP National Security Services.
