MD Magazine Announces UC Davis Health System as First Partner in Strategic Alliance Program
Plainsboro, NJ (PRWEB) November 30, 2015 -- MD Magazine, the leading source of physician news, conference coverage and peer-to-peer discussion, today announced that UC Davis Health System will be the first partner in a new Strategic Alliance Program. The alliance will allow MD Magazine to showcase the health system’s cutting-edge research programs, outstanding faculty and other innovative initiatives.
“We are extremely proud to welcome UC Davis as our first partner in this new Strategic Alliance Program,” said Mike Hennessy Jr., president of Intellisphere Oncology and Healthcare Specialty Group, part of the Plainsboro, N.J.-based Michael J. Hennessy Associates, Inc., family of businesses. “Their physicians are superstars; their research is exciting. Together, we will provide news and insight from the forefront of research and treatment so physicians can offer the best care possible for their patients.”
MD Magazine is collaborating with both the UC Davis Department of Neurology and Division of Cardiovascular Medicine to showcase their world-class research and treatment across digital and print platforms. MD Magazine will launch new quarterly journals focused on neurology and psychiatry, as well as cardiology and metabolic health in 2016. These quarterly journals will be designed to meet growing demand for news regarding specific disciplines.
The collaboration will focus on the UC Davis Department of Neurology, which conducts basic and clinical research on the nervous system and provides clinical care for people with neurological disorders, such as Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia, epilepsy, Parkinson's and Huntington's diseases, tremor, dystonia, multiple sclerosis, neuromuscular conditions, headache and sleep disorders. The Department of Neurology is a comprehensive department of clinical and basic neuroscience because of the presence of clinicians, clinician scientists, and basic scientists, with a strong focus on translation of research results into practice. The department offers cutting-edge diagnostic approaches, including advanced neuroimaging technologies, and access to trials of new medications and other therapeutic modalities. The strategic alliance will also highlight cardiovascular medicine at UC Davis Health System, known for having the compassion, expertise and advanced technologies it takes to provide comprehensive care for all heart and vascular disease. In addition to internationally renowned clinicians, surgeons and prevention specialists, the team includes clinical and basic science researchers who are identifying new therapies aimed at reducing deaths from cardiovascular disease. UC Davis is widely recognized for its leadership in treating high blood pressure, congenital heart disease, peripheral artery disease, arrhythmia, valve conditions and heart failure. It is also home to the nation’s first program dedicated to women’s heart health. In addition, UC Davis physicians are leaders in conducting groundbreaking research on stem cell treatments for critical limb ischemia and in utilizing lifesize simulators to train the next generation of cardiovascular physicians on catheter-based diagnostics and treatment.
