Bone McAllester Norton Attorney recognized as 2016 Truman Project Security Fellow
Nashville, TN (PRWEB) February 02, 2016 -- Bone McAllester Norton attorney, Samar Ali has been accepted into a nationally competitive class of Truman Project members as a Security Fellow. The 2016 Security Fellowship begins in February in Washington, D.C. where Ms. Ali will join an outstanding and accomplished community. The Truman National Security Project is the only organization in the United States that identifies, organizes and positions next-generation leaders to communicate, advocate and lead on issues of national security and foreign policy.
Samar Ali concentrates her law practice on cross-border transactions, international law and private diplomacy. “Samar is an obvious choice for the Truman National Security Project,” said Charles W. Bone, “This is a great honor; she is a talented, passionate advocate for positive change in America through government and international relations. Just in the past year her work has included major international projects across the globe.”
The former Assistant Commissioner for International Affairs for Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam and White House Fellow has a passion for bettering people’s lives and communities, and she has spent her career advocating for positive difference in America.
Immediately following her White House Fellowship, she worked as an adviser to the Department of Homeland Security in Washington, D.C. and in Doha, Qatar. From 2007 to 2010, Samar was an associate with Hogan Lovells US LLP; she worked in Washington, D.C. and the United Arab Emirates.
Samar is also an Adjunct Professor at Vanderbilt University, where she teaches courses in international relations. She received her B.S. in political science with honors from Vanderbilt, where she was the school’s first Arab-American elected as Student Body President. She graduated with her J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School.
About The Truman National Security Project
The Truman National Security Project unites veteran, political, and policy leaders to develop and advance strong, smart, and principled solutions to the global challenges Americans now face. We believe that America must continue to build and empower an international community of free people and just societies, defend that way of life when necessary, and offer that opportunity to all.
In service of that vision, the Truman Project identifies, organizes, and positions American leaders to communicate, advocate, and lead on our nation’s most pressing global challenges. Our membership includes defense, policy and political leaders at the national, state, and local level, many of whom have served their country in conflict zones around the world. This growing movement is supported by Americans from every state and walk of life, dedicated to service, a set of common values, and a shared vision of America’s role in today’s world.
