Actor Chris O'Donnell Helps Launch Extension Day on Behalf of Catholic Extension
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) January 17, 2014 -- A devout Roman Catholic and father of five children, actor Chris O’Donnell will donate his time and expertise to support Extension Day, Catholic Extension’s response to Pope Francis’ continual call, first shared at World Youth Day 2013, to “make some noise.” Catholic Extension is encouraging youth nationwide to extend beyond themselves through acts of service, philanthropy and prayer, and to document their day of extension with a short video.
Extension Day is organized by Catholic Extension, a national organization that has supported people, their ministries and their churches for more than 100 years.
Extension Day video entries are being accepted now through February 3, 2014. They can be submitted in any language, and must be no longer than two minutes. Videos will be evaluated based on the creativity, passion and impact of their message. To learn more, go to http://www.ExtensionDay.org.
Top videos will be determined by a panel of judges, including O’Donnell; Father Dave Dwyer, director of Busted Halo; and Rev. Father Mark Mary, co-host of EWTN-TV’s popular Life on the Rock program.
Finalists will be eligible for grants to benefit their ministry and their videos will have the opportunity to be viewed and recognized by Pope Francis.
“Just as he did at World Youth Day 2013, Pope Francis continues to speak to young Catholics and challenges them to boldly bring the presence of Christ to those on the periphery,” said Joseph Boland, Vice President of Mission, Catholic Extension. “As a papal society, Catholic Extension is responding to the Holy Father’s deepest wish by encouraging young Catholics across America to ‘make some noise’.”
