Netsmart Is First Health and Human Services EHR to Achieve Stage 2 Meaningful Use Certification
Overland Park, Kan (PRWEB) November 22, 2013 -- Continuing its strong leadership in Meaningful Use, Netsmart today announced that its Avatar™ EHR ONC 2014 solution has been certified as an ambulatory Complete EHR, 2014 Edition, making Netsmart the first post-acute EHR to achieve stage-2 Meaningful Use certification.
This latest version of Netsmart’s myAvatar™ CareRecord™ is also the first EHR designed specifically for health and services provider organizations to achieve 2014 Edition compliant Meaningful Use certification.
“Attaining Meaningful Use Stage 2 certification is just part of our larger mission to equip our clients to provide coordinated care with maximum business efficiency,” said Michael Valentine, chief executive officer, Netsmart. “Our CareRecords go far beyond the basic Stage 2 requirements with capabilities that help our clients meet pay-for-performance requirements, submit outcomes data electronically, utilize clinical decision support, benchmarking and analytics to optimize clinical and revenue cycle processes, and engage with their clients through intuitive consumer portals.”
Stage 1 Complete and Modular Meaningful Use certification expires for all vendors on December 31, 2013, so they must successfully pass 2014 certification requirements for their users to continue to qualify for Meaningful Use incentive funds. Providers attesting for Meaningful Use dollars in 2014 must be using a 2014 certified solution. Some industry reports indicate providers are seeking other EHR alternatives if they think their current vendor will not be able to comply with the 2014 certification requirements. Netsmart is on schedule to attain Complete EHR, 2014 Edition compliant certification for its TIER®, myEvolv™, CMHC/MIS and Insight™ CareRecords in early 2014.
Behavioral health, addiction treatment, I/DD, child and family, public health, and other health and human services providers are currently eligible for Medicaid or Medicare Meaningful Use funds based on the number of Eligible Professionals (EPs), such as physicians and nurse practitioners, in their organizations.
Certification testing for Avatar 2014 was conducted by Drummond Group Inc., one of the ONC-Authorized Testing and Certification Bodies (ATCBs) for EHR certification named by the Office of the National Coordinator to provide Meaningful Use certification for EHR systems and applications.
