IOTA's Contemporary Planters Take Centre Stage in Major Urban Regeneration Scheme

Birmingham City Council has selected IOTA to supply contemporary planters for the downtown shopping district. These planters not only bring colour and interest to the area, but also perform a wide variety of functions within the landscaping plan.
This is a flagship scheme for a major public authority, and it further enhances IOTA's reputation as a leading supplier to large-scale landscaping projects. This business area is a major growth opportunity for IOTA - not only in the UK, but also internationally.

Bristol, UK (PRWEB) December 3, 2007 -- After London, Birmingham is the UK's second largest city. As part of its ongoing urban regeneration programme, Birmingham City Council selected IOTA to supply contemporary planters for the downtown shopping district. IOTA's Granite planters were chosen for their solid construction and considerable weight, making them particularly appropriate for municipal areas.

In addition to established tree planting, IOTA's planters are the principal form of soft landscaping used within the scheme. The planters are sited throughout the district - along the pedestrianised zone of New Street to the south, north up Corporation Street, and west to the Cathedral Square.

The majority of the planters are clustered in offset groups of three, and are planted seasonally. In the winter, as shown here, hardy evergreens such as Bamboo and Cordyline are used to provide lasting colour and structural interest. In addition to being decorative, the planter groups also serve a wide variety of functions within the landscaping plan - such as directing pedestrian flow; identifying intersections; and signposting key locations (e.g. seating areas and cab ranks).

Says Mark Chessell, Chief Executive of IOTA: "This is a flagship scheme for a major public authority, and it further enhances IOTA's reputation as a leading supplier to large-scale landscaping projects. This business area is a major growth opportunity for IOTA - not only in the UK, but also internationally."
