New Lineup of Victor Equipment Wheels for Porsche Employ Performance Enhancing Strategies
Huntington Beach, CA (PRWEB) March 31, 2014 -- Victor Equipment has announced that they have expanded their product line of custom Porsche wheels designed and engineered strictly for Porsche vehicles with the 2014 launch of the Baden and Kronen models. This has created new opportunities for devotees of Porsche Boxsters, and other Porsches as well, to tune their rides for personalization and maximum performance.
Since the introduction of the Boxster in 1996, the mid-engine two seater has been hailed as an updated evocation of the Cabriolet/Speedster mystique from the 1950’s and 60’s. With a complete redesign in 2013 and the addition in 2014 of the 330 horsepower Boxster GTS, the German-made sports car has been heralded as Porsche’s newest super car. Victor Equipment has responded with Porsche Boxster wheels that can actually enhance vehicle performance.
“Porsche engineers are renown for their mechanical innovations,” observed Terence Scheckter, president and founder of the wheel maker. “At Victor Equipment, our sole focus is engineering technically superior wheels precisely built for 100% compatibility with all Porsche sports cars, luxury sedans and SUVs. Porsches are synonymous with performance. That inspires Victor Equipment engineers to devise performance enhancing strategies we can incorporate into our wheels,” said Scheckter.
One of those strategies is Victor Equipment’s support for staggered fitments across its lineup. A staggered fitment specifies wider wheels and tires on the rear axle. Even on a mid-engine vehicle like the Boxster with near 50/50 front/rear weight distribution, a staggered fittprint can improve off the line acceleration, improve skid pad Gs and shorten braking distances. As a bonus, it gives the vehicle a visually more aggressive posture.
Victor Equipment Porsche rims are offered in three different widths in each 18”, 19” and 20” diameters to facilitate staggered fitments and to enable tuners to upsize wheels from the factory supplied set.
The second performance enhancing strategy employed by Victor Equipment is the highly advanced manufacturing process known as rotary forging. The goal is to minimize wheel weight while actually increasing its strength and durability. The wheel is forged from a unique aluminum alloy, spun at high speed under intense pressure with computer-controlled machinery. This fundamentally alters the molecular properties of the alloy, creating a much tighter grain structure than found in traditionally forged wheel. The resulting mechanical strength allows Victor Equipment engineers to reduce the thickness of the rim, with weight saving that accrues to the outer-most circumference. That means rotational mass is dramatically reduced, which also adds to vehicle performance. Both the new for 2014 Baden model and the Innsbruck model are manufactured using the rotary forging process.
In addition to precisely incorporating the Porsche’s unique wide bolt pattern, and matching the unusually high offsets required by the Porsche factory, all Victor wheels accommodate the factory-supplied lug bolts and the original equipment Porsche Crest center caps. The Porsche tire-pressure monitoring system is fully supported as well.
