The Buffalo Memorial Auditorium hosted many early big rock n roll acts such as Fats Domino and Buddy Holly. According to Hawley, “The Buffalo Memorial Auditorium was knocked down a few years ago. The auditorium was home for the Buffalo Sabers and hosted many of the top 1950s and 1960s acts such as The Biggest Show Of Stars. Most rock concerts in Buffalo were promoted by local radio legend Hound Dog Lorenz. The Stone played Buffalo on June 28, 1966. The band was very popular in America in 1966 and show was well attended.”
Hawley adds,“The fillmore era style poster measures 14 x 22 inches and was printed locally on thick cardboard. This poster is unique since prior Stones concert posters were usually printed by Globe Poster Company or Murray poster Company. The name of the local printer for the Stones concert is not known. These posters were hung at Norton Hall and other local Buffalo establishments to advertise the show. Several posters have surfaced over the years. The exact number printed is not known.
