Station X Adds DNAnexus Integration to GenePool to Provide Easy Data Sharing and a Comprehensive Genome Analysis Platform
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) August 12, 2014 -- Station X today announced that it has added DNAnexus integration to its cloud-based genome analysis platform GenePool®, providing customers with an end-to-end analytical solution.
Subscribers to Station X’s GenePool genome management and analysis platform who have stored and processed their genomics data on DNAnexus’ platform can now access that data directly from within GenePool and immediately use them in further analyses. “We’re very happy to announce GenePool’s integration with DNAnexus. By streamlining data transfer, this enables scientists to focus on their biological and clinical research objectives,” said Richard Goold, CEO of Station X.
As genome sequencing becomes more broadly adopted both in the research and clinical communities, the ability to efficiently store, analyze and share data and results has become a pivotal step in advancing medical science and delivering new diagnostics and therapeutics. Genome scientists need access to secure, scalable storage and specific analysis pipelines to process their data, ideally without having to move those data around. Researchers and clinicians also need to integrate their genomic data with patient-derived information and be able to analyze and visualize these in a biologically meaningful context.
Cloud-based SaaS platforms are ideal for addressing these needs, and with the combination of the DNAnexus platform for storage and processing and GenePool for analysis, visualization and collaboration, scientists and clinicians now have a comprehensive integrated solution that will enhance the development of new diagnostics in the research lab and enable improved therapeutic decisions in a clinical setting.
The recent release of the first publicly available “$1000 genome” whole genome datasets illustrates the ease and utility of the GenePool/DNAnexus integration. These test datasets were generated by scientists at the Garvan Institute, using Illumina’s new HiSeq X Ten sequencer, and were kindly made available to the genome community by the Garvan in collaboration with DNAnexus and AllSeq*. Through the software integration announced today, Station X was able to link to the datasets on DNAnexus and make them available for use in GenePool; interested investigators can review the variants and annotations in each dataset, view the alignments and base call metrics in the browser and compare the complete datasets to focus on differences. To view the Garvan datasets, free GenePool Reference accounts can be opened at http://www.stationxinc.com.
In a similar way, GenePool customers can now link to their own DNAnexus accounts and immediately have access to their stored genomic data for use with GenePool.
