Alcohol & Drug Rehab Winnipeg Launches Program to Support Adolescents in Reducing Marijuana Addiction
Winnipeg, Canada (PRWEB) January 11, 2014 -- A Winnipeg alcohol and drug rehab center is announcing that it has started a new program aimed at helping adolescents break their abuse of marijuana through new services available at Drug Addiction Treatment Centers.
According to a report from the Canadian Centre on Substance Abuse, 14–21 percent of students in Grade 12 report driving within an hour of using marijuana or cannabis, and more than 33 percent of Grade 12 students report having been a passenger with someone who had used cannabis.
Data revealed by the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health show that "in any given year, one in five Canadians experiences a mental health or addiction problem. About 20 percent of people with a mental disorder have a co-occurring substance use problem."
Drug rehabilitation allows adults and adolescents a chance to get clean from marijuana use. A part of this process is detoxification, cleansing out the physical body filled with mind-altering substances. Once this process takes place, then counseling and therapeutic methods can enter into play.
Counselors and therapists with many years of experience in the field of substance abuse treatment and addiction can help make the transition from addiction to recovery easier. Staff and clients are able to exchange stories of shared experiences, which will let recovering individuals know they are not alone in their journey.
