Soble (Docket No: CAM-L-431-16) among the top 20 plaintiff jury verdicts in New Jersey. The top verdicts list is comprised of cases tried in both state and federal courts of New Jersey.
Chacker obtained the jury verdict in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Camden County, on behalf of his client, Mark Heiser, who was diagnosed in 2014 with stage IV kidney cancer. Chacker successfully proved to the jury that Heiser's physician failed to follow up on an "incidental finding on a lumbar MRI" during a 2010 appointment – leading to a four-year delayed diagnosis as Heiser's cancer spread through his body.
The jury awarded Heiser $500,000 for past pain and suffering, $1.5 million for future pain and suffering, $375.000 for lost income, and more than $31,000 for his medical expenses.
"This case involved a delayed diagnosis with serious consequences," Chacker said. "Our client, who was previously a pediatric anesthesiologist at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, has lost his independence. Nothing can reverse the negligence that left his cancer untreated for four years, but we are proud to have obtained justice for Mr. Heiser with this verdict."
