ProtectCELL Announces Program Donating Cell Phone Chargers to Metro-Detroit Hospitals
Novi, MI (PRWEB) November 21, 2013 -- ProtectCELL, a Fortegra Financial company (NYSE: FRF) dedicated to helping its users get protected and stay connected, today announced a program donating cell phone chargers to metro-Detroit hospitals. Over 500 cell phone chargers were donated to be given to individuals in waiting rooms who are typically there unexpectedly and are often making numerous calls.
“When rushing to the hospital to be with a friend or family member, the amount of charge on your cell phone is certainly the last thing on your mind,” said Scott McLaren, Chief Marketing Officer for ProtectCELL. “However, when you arrive and find yourself in the waiting room, you are likely looking to make many calls to update family and check in with work. Most people do not plan for these types of situations. We are in the business of keeping people connected, so when one of our team members identified this opportunity it just made sense and in a complete fit with our approach to giving back to the community.”
Five different types of chargers are bundled in a package to represent just about any kind of phone. “We thought this would make it easy for hospital staff, eliminating the problem of locating the right charger to match the phone,” continued McLaren.
“ProtectCELL has a strong commitment to helping in the communities where our employees live and our charitable giving programs and donations all come out of employee generated ideas,” said McLaren. “The idea for this particular program actually came out of the experience of one employee. She was called to the hospital to be with a friend and while notifying others her phone ran out of battery power. She realized this was an area were ProtectCELL could help.”
"Henry Ford Macomb is the first hospital to take advantage of this program at our three inpatient locations in Macomb County,” said Maryann Northcote, Director, Security Services. “It is extremely helpful to our patients and families when our security officers can just hand them a charger. It immediately puts them at ease."
“We have placed the phone chargers that were donated by ProtectCELL in our Urgent Care, Surgery Waiting room, ICU, and in our Med/Surg unit,” said Anne Mancour, Communications & Marketing Manager, Doctors’ Hospital of Michigan. “The staff was very happy to know that we can better serve our patients and guests at times when communication to loved ones is most crucial.”
Other hospitals interested in becoming part of this program should contact Jennifer Roberts at 248-319-0450. For further information on ProtectCELL’s current protection plans, please visit protectcell.com.
