Sierra Nevada Corporation’s Retired Army Col. Paul Plemmons Inducted into U.S. Army Ordnance Corps Hall of Fame
Sparks, NV (PRWEB) December 13, 2013 -- Retired Army Col. Paul Plemmons, corporate vice president of Electronic Warfare and Range Instrumentation (EWR) at Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) was inducted into the United States Army Ordnance Corps Hall of Fame, Nov. 7, 2013.
Plemmons received the prestigious honor based on his 35 years of service as a U.S. Army officer specializing in explosive ordnance disposal and ammunition logistics. Plemmons served at all levels from platoon to brigade, including serving three combat tours in Iraq – the last as commander of the Combined Joint Task Force Troy in 2006.
During his illustrious service career, Plemmons received among the highest awards and decorations bestowed upon an Army officer, including the Army Distinguished Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Combat Action Badge and Master Explosive Ordnance Disposal Badge.
“I am honored and humbled to be recognized by the U.S. Army for which I have the highest respect and admiration,” said Plemmons. “I am blessed to have served more than three decades as an Army officer alongside my fellow service men and women. It is truly a highlight in my career and life to be a member of the U.S. Army Ordnance Corps Hall of Fame.”
The Ordnance Corps Hall of Fame recognizes and memorializes persons who have made a positive and significant contribution to the U.S. Army Ordnance Corps. Promotion of greater awareness is one of the goals of the Ordnance Corps Hall of Fame through technological advances and vast contribution of its members. Among those selected for the Ordnance Corps Hall of Fame include five Congressional Medal of Honor awardees.
Plemmons was named corporate vice president of SNC’s EWR business area since 2008. He has led SNC’s development of EWR instrumentation products which protect U.S. military worldwide. Specific products include first responders against Radio Controlled Improvised Explosive Devices and electronic systems supporting man portable (backpack), vehicular, fixed site, and airborne applications. Previously Plemmons was director of special projects for SNC’s Advanced Technology Group.
He attended the U.S. Army War College and received a master’s of science degree from Central Michigan University and a master’s of science degree in administration from California State Polytechnic University with an emphasis on industrial management.
