Big Ridge State Park Gearing Up for 31st Annual Bluegrass Festival
Maynardville, TN (PRWEB) July 29, 2013 -- The third Friday in August brings thousands of Bluegrass lovers to Big Ridge State Park on Norris Lake. On August 16, 2013 park rangers welcome musicians and music enthusiasts to the 31st Annual Bluegrass Festival.
The festival is a free, family-friendly event that runs from 4:00 p.m. until 12:00 midnight. Local vendors will set up to sell food, crafts and fine art. The Union County FCE Club always prepares a variety of desserts and the enticing smell of hamburgers and hotdogs on the grill wafts through the park throughout the evening.
“Our FCE club has served dinner at the festival for each one of the 31 years,” said club member Carol Pratt.
Folks are welcome to bring lawn chairs and blankets for comfort and relaxation as they enjoy the live entertainment which begins at 7:00 p.m. and runs continuously throughout the evening.
This event is held annually to celebrate the cultural history of the community and allow visitors an opportunity to experience the rich musical roots of the early settlers.
Big Ridge State Park is a naturalist park celebrating 76 years as a focal point on the shores of beautiful Norris Lake.
