Liberty University Cinematic Arts Department to Host Labor Day Weekend Film Festival
Lynchburg, VA (PRWEB) August 21, 2013 -- Liberty University Cinematic Arts, Zaki Gordon Center will showcase several movies from major film studios prior to their national release during this year’s Labor Day Weekend Film Festival, Aug. 29-31.
Screenings will be shown on Thursday, Aug. 29, and Friday, Aug. 30 at Cinemark Movies 10 in Candlers Station Shopping Center, adjacent to Liberty’s campus. All events are free and open to the public.
“This marks the beginning of Liberty’s cinematic arts department’s relationship with the major movie studios. It also demonstrates the studios’ interest in our film program to allow the first-time screenings to happen in Lynchburg,” said Stephan Schultze, executive director of Cinematic Arts.
The following films will be shown:
“Grace Unplugged,” Lionsgate Entertainment (starring AJ Michalka and James Denton)
“The Redemption of Henry Myers,” Echolight Studios (Drew Waters and Erin Bethea)
“Seasons of Gray,” Echolight Studios (starring Andrew Cheney and Megan Parker)
“Beyond the Darkness,” DRC Films (starring Robin Haynes and Jesse Allen)
Several breakout sessions will take place on Saturday, Aug. 31, hosted by a panel of actors, writers, directors and producers, including Justin Tolley, Johnny Remo, Danny Carrales, Jon Erwin, Andrew Cheney, Russ Rice, Dan Gordon, Christopher Morrow, Bobby Downes, and Todd Robinson.

Liberty’s Cinematic Arts, Zaki Gordon Center officially launched last year. Students accepted as Cinema Arts majors enter an immersion program their junior year, in which they are devoted solely to their filmmaking academia.
