Stoller Winery Strives to Be a Net Positive Energy Structure with Help from Jacobs HVAC
Dayton, OR (PRWEB) August 28, 2013 -- When Stoller Family Estate Winery wanted to become a “Net Positive Energy” structure, they turned to Jacobs Heating and Air Conditioning for help. The company has been an expert in Portland HVAC since 1952, and had been recently working with new technology that made it much easier to heat and cool buildings year-round utilizing self-generated solar power. Jacobs HVAC turned to this technology, the Daikin VRV III-S commercial heat pump system, to help meet the aggressive sustainability vision of the winery.
As the first LEED Gold-certified winery in the country, Stoller Family Estate Winery knew that they wanted their new tasting room to be as comfortable for visitors as it was environmentally responsible. The regional climate can be very warm and cool, with temperatures soaring up to 100 degrees during the summer months and dropping to 20 degrees in the winter. Stoller Winery wanted to create an oasis of comfort for its guests without making a negative impact on the environment.
Jacobs HVAC was up to the challenge. The Daikin VRVIII-S ensures that the structure can operate at comfortable temperatures, while consuming a minimal amount of energy. The environmentally-friendly commercial heat pump system also features low starting power requirements, low sound levels, and easy integration with a fresh air economizer system to make it the perfect partner for Stoller Winery. Since the entire winery operates with solar power, Daikin VRVIII-S’s attributes were integral in ensuring that the entire system could work smoothly and efficiently.
“Jacobs is proud to have been an integral partner in Stoller Winery’s mission to provide a state-of-the-art tasting facility for its renowned wines with a minimal energy footprint,” said Michael Desserault, Chief Financial Officer at Jacobs Heating and Air Conditioning. “We look forward to more projects in the future utilizing this very promising technology”
Thanks to the expertise of Jacobs HVAC, Stoller Family Estate Winery can continue to do what they do best - produce top-tier wine and thrive as a beacon of sustainability.
