Cybex Cardio and Strength Anchors NB Fitness Club
Medway, MA (PRWEB) September 10, 2013 -- When NB Fitness Club opened in Boston last fall, its fitness floor was anchored by more than 60 pieces of Cybex cardio and strength equipment, including its Arc, Bravo, Eagle, and VR3 lines. Both New Balance, founded in 1906, and Cybex, which debuted in the late 1960s, are headquartered in Massachusetts. New Balance is currently the only major shoe company that manufactures athletic footwear in the U.S., with 25% of its U.S. footwear shipments produced at five New England facilities.
John Fitzgerald, General Manager of NB Fitness Club and a graduate of the University of Massachusetts Amherst, is a fitness industry veteran, coming to the club following positions at Equinox Fitness, LA Fitness, and Healthtrax Fitness & Wellness.
“We chose Cybex for a number of reasons, among them that we are both Massachusetts-based companies, which really appealed to us,” he says. “We also know that Cybex makes quality equipment in the United States that they stand behind.” Cybex operates two U.S.-based manufacturing facilities, one in Medway and one in Owatonna, Minnesota.
Another key benefit of the relationship, notes Fitzgerald, has been unparalleled customer service. “To help us acclimate to the new equipment, Cybex and Executive Director of the Cybex Research Institute, Dr. Paul Juris took our entire team of trainers through a day-long education program. They also handle our equipment repair contract and respond quickly to any issues we have.”
Trainers at NB Fitness point to the equipment’s versatility as a core advantage. “I have two favorite pieces of Cybex equipment, the Bravo and the Arc Trainer,” says NB Fitness personal trainer Eric Zisk. “The Arc Trainer is a great way to burn calories while giving the legs a great workout. The Arc also reduces impact on the joints and offers ease in increasing resistance and stride length. And I use the Bravo with all of my clients. It’s a great machine for almost any type of workout, working any part of the body. It’s flexibility makes it simple to create programs that clients can move through quickly, while keeping the heart rate up, and creating a higher intensity workout.”
“Communication has also been key to our relationship,” Fitzgerald adds. “The team at Cybex is always checking in with me to make sure everything is going well and to discuss industry trends and opinions. It’s a pleasure to talk about the business with like-minded people that all have the same goal: to improve people’s quality of life.”
The 16,000-square-foot NB Fitness Club also features three individual studios for cycling, group fitness (including yoga, mat Pilates, Zumba, boot camp, sculpt, and Tabata classes), and Pilates Reformers; personal training, a three-room spa; complete locker rooms; free parking and WiFi; and a juice bar.
