Increased Wireless Usage Prompts New ETA Distributed Antenna Systems Certification
Greencastle, IN (PRWEB) March 25, 2014 -- It should come as no surprise that the increased use of mobile devices is causing significant growth in wireless traffic. This expansion in wireless usage habits requires additional technologies, such as Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS). It also requires the installers and technicians to install, maintain and support DAS.
“ETA® International recently released its new DAS certification to insure there are competent installers and technicians certified to meet the increasing demand to expand the wireless network footprint,” said ETA President Teresa Maher, CSS.
DAS technologies can be used for indoor locations--mainly to boost signal coverage in large buildings and at stadiums and shopping malls--as well as for outdoor purposes. A DAS network consists of many localized antennas tuned to precisely match the areas within a building or venue where boosted service is needed.
ETA certified DAS technicians and installers demonstrate knowledge and skills that validate their ability to safely and completely install, maintain, troubleshoot and provide support of DAS systems, communications and electronic equipment.
DAS technicians must be knowledgeable in the following technical areas: Distributed Antenna Systems Fundamentals, Safety, Signal Requirements, Equipment, Antennas and Transmission Lines, Connectivity, Testing and Troubleshooting as well as Documentation.
The DAS certification program subject matter advisory board includes experts from Dover Telecommunication Systems, Bird Technologies; Ira Wiesenfeld & Associates, Verizon Wireless, Corning Cable Systems and the HetNet Forum. The DAS training study guide will soon be available.
ETA’s DAS certification may be obtained as a stand-alone certification or it may also be used as a journeyman option for those technicians who have attained the Associate Basic Electronics Technician certification. All ETA certifications are accredited through the International Certification Accreditation Council (ICAC) and align with the ISO-17024 standard.
Since 1978, ETA has issued over 115,000 professional certifications. ETA certifications are widely recognized and frequently used in worker job selection, hiring processes, pay increases, advancements, and often required as companies bid on contracts. ETA’s certifications are personal and travel with the individual, regardless of employment or status change and measure competencies of persons, not products or vendors. All ETA certifications are accredited through the International Certification Accreditation Council (ICAC) and align with the ISO-17024 standard. http://www.eta-i.org
