Crews Place Drop-Floor AquaLaunch Capsules for $1.7 Million KaPau Plummet Thrill Slide at Branson’s White Water Park
Branson, MO (PRWEB) April 09, 2014 -- Branson’s newest thrill attraction is closer to reality as a construction milestone was reached – the setting of the drop-floor AquaLaunch capsules for the new $1.7 million KaPau Plummet thrill slide, set to open May 17 at White Water water park in Branson, Missouri.
The high-tech capsules set in place are key elements for the new slide, designed to be the biggest thrill in White Water history. KaPau Plummet is a heart-pounding, drop-floor thrill slide atop a four-story tower. It features a near-vertical 70-degree plunge and two-story rider free fall through two 240-foot dueling slides, followed by a spiraling loop – an experience promising to far exceed the thrill factor of any water ride ever built at the 13-acre tropically-themed water park.
“KaPau Plummet will be quite a thrill,” said Cory Roebuck, White Water Director of Operations, explaining that ‘kapau’ is a U.S. surfer slang term meaning the next big wave or the next big thing, pronounced KA-POW. “You’ll load into the capsule 40 feet up, stand on the AquaLaunch trap door and hear the countdown, 3…2…1 KAPAU! Then the floor drops out and you’ll free fall at 70 degrees for two stories before the slide catches you, and the drop will literally take your breath away."
Riders will speed at 26 feet per second into a looping 240-foot translucent waterslide before final splashdown. Spectators will be able to watch the riders’ rocket-like plunge and see them spiral through the loops.
KaPau Plummet is the centerpiece for White Water’s upcoming season that includes more than a dozen rides and attractions, “Dive-In” movies on a giant screen above the wave pool and night rides during the Night Water event.
