Downey, CA (PRWEB) July 16, 2014 -- Park Water Company (Park Water) announced today that it has been awarded the contract to operate and maintain Central Basin Municipal Water District’s (Central Basin) Esteban Torres Rio Hondo Recycling Project for the next three years. According to the terms of the agreement, the award is approximately $1.2 million. With the addition of this contract, Park Water will be operating the two distribution systems that compose the Central Basin Recycling Water Project. The intricate, over 70-mile system delivers 5,000 acre-feet of recycled water annually to more than 280 industrial, commercial and landscape irrigation sites.
“Recycled water plays a pivotal role in augmenting imported water supplies in the Southeast Los Angeles County,” said Central Basin Board President Phillip Hawkins. “The partnership between Central Basin and Park Water is demonstration of agencies working together to address the drought and provide alternative, reliable sources of water.”
Park Water has operated Central Basin’s E. Thorton Ibbetson Century Water Recycled Project since its start-up in 1992. The addition of the Rio Hondo Project will result in greater operational effectiveness and synergies between the two recycled water systems. “We are looking forward enhancing our partnership with Central Basin to provide a drought proof supply of recycled water to many communities and businesses,” said Jeanne-Marie Bruno, Park Water’s General Manager and Senior Vice President.
