Rev Up Those Engines for the 12th Annual Run for the Gold Car Show Honoring the Yosemite Grant 150th Anniversary
Oakhurst, California (PRWEB) August 22, 2014 -- This year’s car show honors both the 150th Anniversary of the Yosemite Grant Act and the 99th birthday of Kiwanis, founded in 1915.
The historic Yosemite Grant Act preserved the wild lands of Yosemite and the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias for all time and planted the seed for the National Park system. The Run for the gold Classic Car Show further celebrates Yosemite with a Yosemite Art & Craft show and will also show the Ken Burns film, “Yosemite: A Gathering of Spirit” to highlight the anniversary.
The car show is open to all cars and trucks including original, modified, pickups, antique/special interest, classic, Corvette, muscle cars, street rods, roadsters and more. The entry fee is $35.00 per vehicle.
Registration for participating cars opens at 2:00 pm Friday and continues through 7:00 pm. Friday night kicks off at 6 pm with a party, BBQ dinner and entertainment featuring rock ‘n’ roll and oldies music, after check-in for pre-registered cars. Cost for Friday night events is $12.00 per person.
Gates open at 7:00 am on Saturday morning, and registration continues through 9:00 am, when all cars must be parked. A pancake breakfast is served from 7:00 am to 10:00 am, at a cost of $6.00. Lunch follows at 11:30 to 1:00 pm.
Awards to be conferred include Best of Show, Best Roadster, People’s Choice, Class Awards and Special Award and Best Mopar and a 50th Anniversary Mustang Award .
