Mermaids to Gather in Beachfront Town While Scuba Diver Stays Underwater 55 Hours.

The Mermaid Gathering was established to provide a beautiful, comfortable and secure place for "mermaids" from around the world to gather together to meet, greet and make new “mer-friends” in a gorgeous beachfront tropical setting.

Allen The Grouper Sherrod returns will attempt to reclaim his World Record for the Longest Open Saltwater SCUBA dive he originally set here in 2011. The Grouper will attempt to set a new record of 55 hours underwater. His attempt will be broadcast in a live streaming format from his location on the reef 24/7 over the internet so millions of people around the world can watch and be a part of this amazing record breaking event. There will also be an underwater “in tails” wedding ceremony between “The Grouper” and Mermaid Queen Barbara Wynns at 11:11 AM on Friday the 19th with a large Mermaid wedding party in attendance.
To add to the excitement, in attendance this year will be Eric Ducharme “The Mertailor”, author Carolyn Turgeon and international award winning photographer Andreas Franke will attend this year to present his exhibit of the magical undersea art of The Sinking World of Andreas Franke.
