Duly Noted Painters Presents "Composite Allusions" at the DC Arts Center
Washington, DC (PRWEB) December 10, 2014 -- Duly Noted Painters, the Washington, DC based duo comprised of Matthew Malone and Kurtis Ceppetelli, present "Composite Allusions" showcasing their most recent work at the District of Columbia Arts Center.
In these paintings Malone and Ceppetelli take advantage of their ability to observe, contrast, and create compelling and enigmatic scenarios. Composite Allusions is an honest and transparent act of looking at and describing what one sees. Inspired by their sketches of everyday people in their daily routines, the two create intense narratives fusing individual worlds into one painter’s impression. Their two voices are combined to create one and when we look carefully, we can feel as if we are walking along with them.
“Malone and Ceppetelli’s work breaks rules regarding author and co-author...their paintings merge into the mutual deskilling so sought after in a tradition as overwrought as painting,” said curator Joseph Hale. “Instead of the trite co-expression of fixed identities found so often in collaborative works, these paintings represent the romantic impulse of a generation that finds as many sublime unknowns in the other as in the self.”
The show opening reception is from 7-9pm on January 9th, 2015 and runs until February 8th at the District of Columbia Arts Center located at 2438 18th Street, NW Washington, DC 20009.
