Griffin previously served as board trustee.
"Brian's extensive background and his leadership in successfully guiding Empire BlueCross BlueShield through healthcare reform is a critical asset to VNA Health Group as we too expand our partnerships and service offerings to bring skilled nursing, therapy and home-based primary care to more communities across New Jersey," said Steven Landers, MD, MPH, President and Chief Executive Officer at VNA Health Group.
Griffin’s knowledge and experience about the challenges health care and managed care organizations face, particularly around chronic care management and reducing hospital admissions and ER utilization, will provide valuable insight to help guide VNA Health Group in developing viable programs that deliver results.
In January 2013, Griffin was named President and CEO of Empire BlueCross BlueShield, responsible for operations in New York. In April 2014 he was additionally named President of Anthem, Inc’s, Pharmacy Division. An industry leader with more than 30 years of healthcare experience, he previously held senior leadership positions with US Healthcare and Medco Health Solutions, where he had significant impact on corporate strategy, operational effectiveness and efficiency, organizational development, and revenue/earnings growth, which contributed to the company’s recognition as Fortune’s No.1 Most-Admired Company in “Healthcare, Pharmacy and Other Services.”
“I am honored to have been chosen to serve as chair of VNA Health Group’s Board of Trustees," said Griffin. “This is going to be a growth year for the organization as they expand their services to become the state’s largest provider of home-based primary care, partner with Visiting Physician Services, and develop programmatic institutes to lead innovation in connected health, children and family health, and home care and hospice services.”
