Poptropica Graphic Novel Launches, Begins to Reveal Surprising Story Behind Virtual World for Kids
BOSTON, Mass. (PRWEB) February 17, 2015 -- For nearly eight years, hundreds of millions of kids from around the world have visited Poptropica to explore and play. Now with today’s launch of the Poptropica Graphic Novel, the surprising story behind the popular virtual world for kids will be revealed in a 12-book series.
Written by Max Brallier, the Poptropica Graphic Novel is adapted from a screenplay by Jeff Kinney, Poptropica creator and author of the bestselling "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" series. In a story that will unfold by one page per day, Poptropica players will join Oliver, Mya and Jorge on an adventure that begins with an innocent hot air balloon ride and quickly turns into the thrills and danger behind the creation of Poptropica.
An emerging force in children’s publishing, Max Brallier is the author of the hit illustrated novel, “Galactic Hot Dogs,” published on Funbrain.com and recently featured as a Poptropica Island; as well as “Last Kids in the World,” published by Penguin; “Eerie Elementary,” writing as Jack Chabert for Scholastic; and numerous “Adventure Time” titles from Penguin.
The Poptropica Graphic Novel is illustrated by Kory Merritt, a K-6 art teacher from Hammondsport, New York. Winner of the 2007 John Locher Memorial Award for Cartooning, Merritt is the creator of the online children’s book, “Lost Side Suburbia,” for GoComics and Funbrain.com, and co-creator of the Poptropica Comics for GoComics.
“Beginning with ‘Volume 1: Mystery of the Map,’ the Poptropica Graphic Novel will reveal the intriguing story of the virtual world’s creation to its millions of fans from more than 200 countries around the world,” said Jess M. Brallier, publisher of Poptropica. “As they read each new installment, kids will be amazed by the adventures of Oliver, Mya and Jorge, the brave trio that begins to unravel the surprising story behind the Islands known as Poptropica.”
