Tomatina Opening Eighth Bay Area Location in Union City
Union City, California (PRWEB) April 21, 2015 -- Tomatina (http://www.tomatina.com), a casual, chef-inspired Italian restaurant, is celebrating the opening of it’s eighth Bay Area location on Tuesday, April 28 from 5-7pm at the Union Landing Shopping Center. Tomatina will be joined by Greg from the popular 99.7 NOW Fernando and Greg Morning Show, who will be playing music on-site and helping to give away fresh, Italian meals to the first 100 guests to arrive. Beginning Friday, May 1, Tomatina in Union City will be open to the public for regular business hours.
Tomatina will be hosting three days of soft-opening events and will be donating 100% of alcohol sales to the Tri-City Volunteers Food Bank, one of the largest food banks serving Alameda County. Tomatina is committed to supporting the community at all its locations through the “Dine & Donate” program, hosting events for local non-profits and donating 15% of sales generated from their supporters.
Tomatina’s Executive Chef Rogelio Jacinto has helped to craft an extensive Italian menu that takes a modern approach to traditional Italian recipes. Chef Jacinto has been with Tomatina since it’s inception in 1998. He began his career in 1989 at the prestigious Tra Vigne Restaurant in St. Helena, California under the instruction of American celebrity chef Michael Chiarello. When Chiarello opened Tomatina in 1998, he entrusted Jacinto with the task of developing the menu. Chef Jacinto was promoted to Executive Chef of Tomatina in 2002 and continues in this role, where he plays an integral part in the creation of Tomatina’s menu ¬¬and rotating specials.
“Our customers appreciate that our food is made to order with fresh ingredients. At Tomatina, we bake fresh bread daily; pull our own mozzarella; and make all our own sauces, soups and salad dressings from scratch. We are proud that each restaurant has a full-time chef on staff to ensure a great meal every time you dine with us,” says Mark Nicandri, Vice President of Operations.
While their pasta with made-from-scratch sauces and home-made pizza are customer favorites, Tomatina has become known for their signature piadines – fresh, hot flat-bread topped with cool salads, ready to fold and eat. Chef Jacinto will be working with the Union City team to bring diners new, seasonal specials each month, as well as an extensive menu with gluten-free, vegetarian and kid-friendly options.
The Union City restaurant will be directly across from the Century Theaters in the Union Landing Shopping Center and will feature a full bar serving signature and classic cocktails with an extensive selection of hand-selected Italian and California wines.
