U.S. Marine Corps Arizona Specialty License Plate Officially Available for Purchase
Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) August 25, 2015 -- The Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation Arizona Campaign today announced the launch of the U.S. Marine Corps Arizona specialty license plate. Of the $25 registration fee, $17 will go to the Scholarship Foundation to support local students in its mission of Honoring Marines by Educating Their Children. Since its inception in 1962, the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation has awarded 35,000 scholarships valued at nearly $100 million to the sons and daughters of Marines and Navy Corpsmen nationwide.
“For those of us who didn't serve, displaying the Marine Corps license plate is a public way to acknowledge, and thank, those who did,” said Deborah Carstens, Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation national board member. “Additionally, these plates help support a 53-year old organization that honors the sacrifices of Marines by providing college scholarships for their children.”
Working with State Representative Sonny Borrelli, a Retired Marine Corps Gunnery Sergeant, and sponsor of the bill, members of the Scholarship Foundation’s Arizona Committee assisted in the process of getting the bill passed through the legislature. After the Governor signed the bill, the committee played a pivotal role working with the Arizona Department of Transportation on the plate’s design. For the current 2015-2016 academic year, 87students from and/or attending school in Arizona received more than $240,000 in scholarships.
The USMC plate is the newest of nearly 40 specialty plates in the state, approximately half a dozen of which are military-related. The plate is available to the general public and military service or affiliation is not required. Specialty plates and can be ordered and personalized online at ServiceArizona.com or at any Arizona MVD office.
The Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation Arizona Campaign will officially unveil its specialty plate at the Fifth Annual Arizona Awards Dinner on September 12.
