Dan Herman of The Chartis Group is Named a Life Fellow of HIMSS

Herman, Director and Informatics and Technology Practice Leader at The Chartis Group, was named a Life Fellow by the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (LFHIMSS) for his long-term service and commitment to the advancement of healthcare operations and information technology. The HIMSS Board of Directors advances members to this status who have been thought leaders in the field of healthcare information and management systems and have been a contributing member of the Society for no less than 30 continuous years. Mr. Herman joins approximately 80 colleagues awarded this status out of HIMSS’ 61,000 members.

For more than 30 years, Mr. Herman has advised leading academic medical centers, integrated delivery networks, physician group practices, specialty providers and provider-sponsored managed care organizations on enhancing the value of their information technology investments. An early advocate for improving care delivery and operations through the effective use of technology, Mr. Herman has authored numerous articles and presentations on behalf of HIMSS, AHA, Consulting magazine and Healthcare Informatics including: “Global Diversification – Healthcare IT Worldwide,” “Technology’s Role in Consumer Engagement,” “Three Steps IT Should Take in Response to Healthcare Reform,” “Technology Virtualization,” “Physician Adoption Strategies,” and “Demonstrating the Business Value of Information Technology.”

Mr. Herman earned his Master of Business Administration with a concentration in information systems from the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University, and a Bachelor of Science in industrial and operations engineering from the University of Michigan. He has served on the HIMSS board, several of its national committees, and was the President of the Colorado, Greater Chicago and Western Pennsylvania HIMSS Chapters.
