Istation Releases Updates for Istation Reading, Reading en Español, and Math
(PRWEB) March 22, 2016 -- Istation announces updates to Istation Reading, Reading en Español, and Math. Available March 21, 2016, these updates include the following:
Emergent and Early Readers – New activities with Rhyming Ralph help students identify rhyming sounds and words. Plus, new lessons with Miss Mousely help students identify pairs of words with the same initial phoneme.
Six new transitory- and developed-stages books and accompanying activities and lessons teach critical reading comprehension skills such as character analysis, cause and effect, inference, main idea, and vocabulary using context.
Extend student learning with 24 new Parent Portal lessons for parents to use at home to reinforce reading skills with their children.
Istation Math:
Three new lessons for grades 2-5 with Secret Equation Man help students identify halves, thirds, and fourths; understand equal shares of identical wholes; and identify fractions equivalent to one.
Vice President of Curriculum Tracey Roden said, “As always, we are excited to release new material to enhance Istation products. Built by a talented team of experienced educators and curriculum experts, these new additions continue to support educators in the classroom and give students tools to build upon their success.”
Rhyming Sounds and Phoneme Pairs with Rhyming Ralph and Miss Mousely
Istation has expanded its early reading content with new activities and lessons from Rhyming Ralph and Clapping Clara. Rhyming Ralph’s “Rhyme-O-Rama” contains 26 songs — including classic nursery rhymes and original compositions — that help students identify rhyming sounds. Additionally, a new lesson from Rhyming Ralph teaches students to identify rhyming words in the context of a poem. Helping students increase their understanding of phonemic awareness, new content with Miss Mousely teaches initial phoneme pairs.
Story Comprehension and Literacy en Español
Additions to Istation Reading en Español include six new books and activities that increase student literacy and comprehension skills. Leonor and Scribi teach students about character analysis, cause and effect, inferencing, main idea, and vocabulary within the context of engaging stories while using graphic organizers. New Parent Portal Lessons (available March 25, 2016) have also been added. These resources contain lessons, books, and reading passages that can be downloaded at home.
Fraction Training with Weatherby
In each of three new math lessons, students train with Weatherby to understand fractions before facing the dastardly villain Pie Face. In one lesson, students learn to identify and partition halves, thirds, and fourths. In another, students learn how fractional parts can be equivalent even if they are different shapes. Lastly, students learn about fractions that are equivalent to one.
Written by educators for educators, these new products further enhance Istation’s robust and adaptive curriculum. To learn more about Istation’s comprehensive e-learning program, read any of our free interactive e-brochures.
