ALOM VP Lisa Dolan to Receive STEP Ahead Award by Manufacturing Institute
Fremont, CA (PRWEB) April 22, 2016 -- Lisa Dolan, Vice President of Supply Chain Strategy at ALOM, a global leader in supply chain management, was presented with the 2016 Women in Manufacturing STEP Ahead award last night in Washington, D.C.
The annual STEP Ahead award competition is conducted by the Manufacturing Institute to honor women who have demonstrated excellence and leadership throughout their distinguished careers in the manufacturing industry. Dolan’s recognition is the second consecutive STEP Ahead award for ALOM. In 2015, ALOM President and CEO, Hannah Kain was named a STEP Ahead recipient.
Commenting on this honor, Dolan stated, “At ALOM, I design and implement technology-driven supply chain programs that transform how products are manufactured and delivered around the world. Based upon my career experience, I am personally committed to advocating for women and girls to pursue rewarding STEM-related careers in supply chain and manufacturing. Not only do I believe that this will further innovation but it will also create the STEM expertise that our economy demands in the coming decades.”
A recent survey from Deloitte and The Manufacturing Institute found that 80 percent of American manufacturing companies have a moderate to severe shortage of available, qualified workers.
“Lisa Dolan represents the face of exciting careers available in manufacturing,” said Jennifer McNelly, President, The Manufacturing Institute. “We chose to honor women like Lisa because they each have made significant achievements in manufacturing through positive impact on their company and the industry as a whole.”
Dolan is a visionary and experienced supply chain executive. During her 19 years with ALOM, she has implemented global supply chain optimization strategies that appreciably reduced costs and improved service and quality levels for some of the world’s most respected Fortune 100 companies.
For Ford Motor Company, she helped redefine the way navigation system data updates are delivered to vehicles around the world. For other companies, Dolan has reduced waste, improved sustainability, increased velocity for faster time to market, and optimized inventory management.
In the community, Dolan raises awareness of STEM and manufacturing supply chain skills and career opportunities among students. She is past president of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) in the San Francisco Bay Area, which offers college scholarships to study supply chain management. As a Girl Scout Leader, Dolan led focused activities around STEM subjects and conducted activities at the NASA AMES Research Center in Silicon Valley, as part of the Sally Ride Program.
The STEP Ahead Awards are part of the larger STEP Ahead initiative, launched to examine and promote the role of women in the manufacturing industry through recognition, research, and leadership for attracting, advancing, and retaining strong female talent.
