Riches To Rags Standup Comedy Shows Present Technically Correct and Logically Sound Jokes with International Flavor
Oakland, CA (PRWEB) October 09, 2016 -- Riches To Rags, a brand new weekly standup comedy show featuring Richard Sarvate, Abhay Nadkarni & Samson Koletkar—3 Indian Americans with Silicon Valley tech careers turned stand-up comedians—launches on October 27 in Oakland, CA.
Individually, the three techies have decoded a lot of apps. Together, the three comedians have decoded a lot of audiences across the USA, Canada and India. They are the creators of Desi Comedy Fest, the largest annual South Asian comedy festival in America. Earlier in 2016, they completed a 4-city tour of India together. “During the past year, we have worked so closely together that we talk more frequently with each other than with our families. We decided to take some more of that time we already don’t spend with our families and spend it doing more shows together,” says Richard, one of the trifecta.
Richard quit his job as Yahoo Mail programmer to pursue a more "lucrative" career in stand-up. He is a comedian with an alternative sense of humor. He is Indian, though his last name was butchered during an immigration debacle. His jokes range from introspective subjects like his mother’s schizophrenia to a taqueria that serves fortune churros. He performs all over the U.S. and recently did a 19-show tour of India.
Abhay is an audiophile by day and comedian by night. He moved from South India to South Central Los Angeles. As an outsider living inside America, his act centers around him trying to fit into the American way of life. He has been featured on Huffington Post, SF Chronicle, NDTV, and is the co-founder of Desi Comedy Fest, the largest annual South Asian comedy festival in America.
A former Product Manager at Selectica, Silicon India named Samson to the list of "10 Indian Comedians Who Found Success in the U.S." He is the world's only Indian Jewish Stand-Up Comedian, married to a Hindu woman, and adopted an American child. He has performed his cerebral, intelligent, clean brand of humor with biting social, political and religious commentary across the USA, Canada and India.
Riches To Rags guarantees an evening of clean, smart, high-brow-not-high-tech humor. “We do comedy to get away from all of the tech drama, so why would we subject our audiences to it,” jokes Abhay. “If you do work in tech, then you will find this show to be a welcome relief at the end of a work day. We talk about life, love, marriage, kids, politics, immigration, cars, and gentrification (that’s right). The sky is not the limit for us, since we also talk about astronomy...and astrology,” says Samson.
Riches To Rags launches on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at 7.30 p.m. at The Loft @ Spice Monkey, 1628 Webster St, Oakland, CA 94612. The show will play every Thursday at 7.30 p.m. Tickets are $12 online and $15 at the door and can be purchased at http://www.RichesToRagsComedy.com.
