MobilityWorks Signs Agreement to Purchase Alamo Mobility
Richfield, OH (PRWEB) May 19, 2017 -- MobilityWorks®, the nation's largest retailer of wheelchair accessible vans, has signed an agreement to purchase Alamo Mobility. The projected closing date is June 15th. Headquartered in San Antonio, TX, Alamo Mobility has approximately 20 employees. A second showroom location is in Selma, TX, about 18 miles north of downtown San Antonio.
The acquisition will add to MobilityWorks' existing presence in the state of Texas, where they currently have van showrooms and service centers in Dallas, Fort Worth, Austin and Waco. With the acquisition, the company will have 69 consumer locations in 24 states.
Alamo Mobility was started in 1993 by Anita and Martin Smith (deceased), a retired U.S. Army Colonel who proudly served his country for 28 years. Colonel Smith was a leader in the mobility industry and was very well respected by his peers. Like MobilityWorks, the company is focused on helping people with disabilities to be more independent and able to travel in a vehicle that meets their individual needs. Matching the client with the right van conversion and other adaptive equipment is the primary goal for both organizations.
“We are extremely pleased to have Alamo Mobility become a part of our family,” said Eric Mansfield, President of MobilityWorks. “We are very similar in our core values and in how we operate our business. I anticipate this being a very smooth transition and we look forward to serving the entire San Antonio metro area.”
Ty Beck, Alamo Mobility’s General Manager for several years, will be overseeing operations for both San Antonio locations. “I’ve known the MobilityWorks leadership team for many years and we share the same views on providing great customer service. I know we will continue that tradition as MobilityWorks,” said Beck.
San Antonio is the second largest city in Texas with Houston being the largest. Dallas is third, followed by Austin. In addition to selling new and pre-owned modified vans for wheelchair accessibility, MobilityWorks and Alamo Mobility also provide rental vans and adaptive equipment such as hand controls, turning seats and scooter lifts. MobilityWorks also manufactures and sells a variety of commercial vehicles to business clients throughout the United States.
