LuminAID Announces Kickstarter for New Line of Smart Solar Lights
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) November 08, 2017 -- Chicago-based startup LuminAID is introducing a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign for a new line of app-controlled solar lanterns, called the Smart Solar Garden. The lanterns come in two geometric shapes, and are a step into the Smart Home market for the startup known for its success on ABC’s Shark Tank for its inflatable solar lanterns. Their new crowdfunding campaign goes live November 7th.
The LuminAID Smart Solar Garden introduces bluetooth-enabled solar lanterns that allow users to schedule light settings, adjust colors, and control groups of lights at once. Users can easily design the lighting and mood of any space all with the Smart Solar Garden app. The lanterns can be controlled individually or in groups. The app-integration includes intelligent light modes that allow users to set light schedules each day of the week for when lights power on, off, or change color. The color and brightness is also remotely controlled with the smartphone app. The Smart Solar Garden line includes two lantern shapes: the Star and the Gem. The Star is a three-dimensional five-point star, and has a range of warm to cool white LED light. The Gem is a geometric pyramid, and has a range of 100s of customizable LED colors. The Star is approximately 24” wide, while the Gem has a base of 9.5” and height of 5.5”. Both lanterns collapse flat down to approximately one inch thick for easy storage.
The campaign goal on Kickstarter is $20,000 and will be live until December 14th. LuminAID’s previous campaign for the PackLite Max 2-in-1 Phone Charger, a compact solar device with phone charging and a lantern, was fully funded in 8 hours.
Co-founder Andrea Sreshta explained how the new campaign is a natural progression from the original inflatable solar lanterns LuminAID is known for in camping, emergency prep, and humanitarian relief. “We’ve always believed that light has a simple but powerful effect on our daily lives. LuminAID has always been about creating innovations that use green technology to bring light to new places. The Smart Solar Garden is our next step in bringing sustainable tech into people’s everyday lives.”
The new campaign will also contribute to LuminAID’s humanitarian relief efforts, which have been an integral part of the company mission since it was founded in 2010. For each Kickstarter pledge, LuminAID will sponsor one of their original inflatable solar lantern for a family without power. The startup will be building on their Hurricane Relief campaign which this season has raised over 30,000 LuminAID safe solar lanterns for families left without electricity following Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria. Solar lanterns raised through the Smart Solar Garden Kickstarter will go to those still without power in Puerto Rico and across the Caribbean.
