Groundbreaking Florida Startup Raises Investor Interest at 20th Annual BioFlorida Conference
Melbourne, Fla (PRWEB) November 08, 2017 -- Alertgy, a Florida-based biotech startup that has developed a revolutionary non-invasive continuous glucose monitoring wristband, was recently recognized as one of the four semi-finalists for the BioPitch Competition held at the 20th Annual BioFlorida Conference in St. Petersburg, Florida, on October 15-17, 2017. As part of the BioPitch Competition, the Alertgy team presented its invention to a committee of investors and was able to successfully raise seed-round funds for its groundbreaking technology.
Led by its technical engineer founder Marc E. Rippen, Alertgy has developed a patient-centric pain-free method to measure a person’s blood sugar levels without the use of needles, lancets, strips or glucometers. Equipped with cutting-edge sensor and materials technology, Alertgy GM is the company’s revolutionary wristband that provides continuous sugar level readings via a smartphone app, and can also alert users or their loved ones when their blood sugar gets too low or too high.
Considered to be the voice of Florida’s life science industry, each year, the Annual BioFlorida Conference attracts hundreds of emerging and established companies, entrepreneurs, investors, scientists, and policymakers. Having received an overwhelmingly positive response from both the healthcare and the business communities, Alertgy plans to have its device available for purchase no later than 2020.
“It was a great honor to take part in the 2017 BioFlorida Conference and the BioPitch program,” said Alertgy Founder and President Marc E. Rippen. “This is the only competition of its kind where companies not only get an opportunity to present their technology to investors for feedback and potential funding, but are also mentored by professional business advisors, such as Veritri Consulting. The Veritri team did a tremendous job in helping us craft an effective pitch and deliver it in a way that speaks to the needs and interests of investors. Overall, this was truly an invaluable experience for our company.”
Veritri Consulting’s Chief Marketing Officer Sean Tibor said: “It was a pleasure to work with the Alertgy team on their BioPitch presentation. As a firm that specializes in helping scientists and engineers build successful businesses, Veritri Consulting was honored to make its contribution to Florida’s biotech community by providing complimentary consulting services for early stage companies participating in this year’s BioPitch Competition.”
President and CEO of BioFlorida Nancy K. Bryan added: “Throughout its 20-year history, BioFlorida has united Florida’s life science leaders at the Annual Conference to celebrate achievements while providing invaluable opportunities to advance the scientific and business goals of the industry. As a part of the conference, Florida’s top seed and early stage companies present to investors during the BioPitch competition, and Alertgy GM was recognized as a semi-finalist for their new technology.”
