Dr. Black Eye Associates Joins Operation Sight to Provide Charitable Cataract Surgery
Jeffersonville, In (PRWEB) August 18, 2017 -- Dr. Black’s Eye Associates kicks off their participation in ASCRS Foundation’s Operation Sight, a program that matches eligible patients who cannot access or afford cataract surgery with volunteer surgeons nationwide. On August 23, Kris Pugh, MD, will perform an Operation Sight procedure on one of the area’s first eligible patients at Eye Associates Surgery Center in Jeffersonville, In.
Operation Sight was launched in 2014 and is now sponsored by the American Society for Cataracts and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS), the largest organization of cataract surgeons in the world. Those interested in taking advantage of this program must complete and submit the inquiry form (found on the ASCRS website or at volunteering organizations) to determine if they are eligible to become an Operation Sight charitable cataract surgery patient.
“We want to make it as simple as possible for people who truly need help accessing cataract surgery. If you have questions about Operation Sight or need assistance with your inquiry paperwork, we encourage you to contact us or another volunteering organization,” says Edwin Apenbrinck, MD, of Eye Associates.
Though the practice has been involved with charitable surgery for decades, says Brad Black, MD, it has embraced Operation Sight and their efforts to reach every qualifying individual, and hopes that other practices in the area will join in.
