Newly Ordained Jewish Spiritual Leaders’ Institute Rabbi Craig Mayers Installed
Melbourne, Florida (PRWEB) February 01, 2018 -- Newly ordained Jewish Spiritual Leaders’ Institute Rabbi Craig Mayers was installed at a ceremony that took place on Saturday, January 20 followed by a gala reception held that night at his synagogue, Temple Beth Sholom in Melbourne, Florida. His official duties start February 1st.
The festivities were attended by nearly 200 people, and included a 40-piece choir candlelight processional and string ensemble. His congregants love him as evidenced by the dozens who drove 2.5 hours to the ordination ceremony a few weeks prior. Craig is no stranger to TBS and had been a lay leader at services, Hebrew school teacher and Bar and Bat Mitzvah tutor for many years. When the synagogue needed a new Rabbi, Mayers was a good candidate.
As all students of JSLI, he brought his wealth of Jewish professional skills with him and joined the diverse and knowledgeable cohort that met once a week with Rabbi Steve Blane, Founder and Dean. The program is a perfect fit for those who have life experience and have a calling to the Rabbinate or are asked by their congregation to lead them as happened with Mayers.
Being a father of three (3) and in his 40s helped guide Craig’s decision to study online. Many of those who study at JSLI already know where their path will take them. About 30% or the 130 ordained Rabbis are serving in a pulpit.
