Wingate University Partners with Akademos to Lower Textbook Prices for Students and Provide Advanced Adoption Tools for Faculty
NORWALK, Conn. (PRWEB) April 04, 2018 -- Wingate University has selected Akademos as its online bookstore provider to help students obtain significant savings on course materials. A multicultural, private university with students from 37 states and 13 countries, Wingate offers undergraduate degrees in its schools of business, arts and sciences, sport sciences and education. Nine graduate programs are also offered in a variety of disciplines. The University, which values getting to know each student as an individual, will launch its online bookstore this spring to support its Summer Term 2018.
Seamless integration between the student information system and the Akademos Course Materials Platform (CMP)TM will allow students to see a personalized listing of the textbooks required for each of their courses, and to order materials for an entire term in less than five minutes. A wide selection across new, used, rental and eBook formats will be offered, and when using Akademos’ proprietary peer-to-peer Marketplace of over 100 million new and used textbooks, students will save an average of 60% off publisher list prices. Through the partnership, Wingate students will also be able to leverage free shipping offers and Akademos’ Learning Management Systems widget to view required course materials through Canvas.
“At Wingate, we understand that paying for college is a top concern for both parents and students,” said Charles Taylor, Chief Operating Officer and CFO. “We are pleased to be partnering with Akademos to offer our students a wider variety of high quality, affordable course materials. This choice reflects our commitment to our students to provide them with all of the tools that they need to succeed, on campus and beyond graduation.”
The online bookstore will also support the college’s faculty and administrators, who will benefit from an easy-to-use and powerful Adoption & Analytics Portal. This platform offers a step-by-step guide for course material adoptions, recommendations and adoption history, and the ability to compare real-time prices for course materials. The analytics tool will also enable faculty and the college’s leadership to track critical data, including classroom and aggregate student purchasing and bookstore utilization, that can be easily merged with the institution’s student success database.
“At Akademos, we’ve seen that more affordable and accessible textbooks drive bookstore utilization, which results in more satisfied, prepared students and overall success for the institution,” said John Squires, CEO, Akademos. “We’re excited to partner with Wingate University, and look forward to helping them lower course material prices, provide outstanding support and service for faculty, and facilitate the transition to digital course materials and new eLearning models.”
