Smartsettle Pre-Qualifies For Funding With Build In Canada Innovation Program (BCIP)
Vancouver, BC (PRWEB) May 04, 2018 -- iCan Systems Inc., maker of the Smartsettle eNegotiation system, has been pre-qualified for the “Build In Canada Innovation Program” (BCIP), a unique initiative aimed at funding and introducing advanced technologies to suitable government departments. The program pays up to $500,000 for new product innovations.
iCan proposed its Smartsettle One solution to BCIP as an advancement in dispute resolution, with the potential to dramatically reduce court backlogs, providing greater access to justice in situations where there could be thousands of cases in extensive queues. The BC Chamber of Commerce reported in 2017 that civil claims typically wait nearly 10 months to be heard in Provincial Court, whereas iCan asserts that the Smartsettle One solution can dramatically reduce that timeframe.
Smartsettle One is an online negotiation system designed to help parties settle disputes in days or weeks rather than months. Proprietary algorithms guide users through a fair and complete process.
The company’s founder, Dr. Ernest Thiessen, first learned about the technology gap in negotiations while volunteering on a hydroelectric engineering project in Nepal. The imbalance between government, landowners, workers, and engineers led him to his doctoral research at Cornell University, and ultimately to the invention of the eNegotiation system at the heart of Smartsettle. The innovation would address not only complex water resource problems, but any type of negotiated issue, great or small.
The Smartsettle One solution is now listed on the BCIP website as a pre-qualified innovation available for testing by Canadian government departments and funded by BCIP. This process will enable the company to test, release and improve its product in order to move it toward further adoption nationally and internationally.
After receiving approval for BCIP pre-qualification, Dr. Thiessen responded by saying, “We are excited about the announcement and affirmed in our high regard for Canada’s commitment to scientific research, development, and stimulus. There is good reason the US and Europe are eyeing Canada’s rapid growth in high-tech, artificial intelligence, and other advancements. Discovery and invention must be nurtured to achieve progress.”
Smartsettle One is available now through the company’s Resolution Cloud platform, https://resolutioncloud.io and its website, https://www.smartsettle.com.
