GBG Awarded Small Disadvantaged Business Supplier of the Year Award
TRUMBULL, Conn. (PRWEB) May 22, 2018 -- GBG The Corporate Gift Source received Pratt & Whitney’s Small Disadvantaged Business (SDB) Supplier of the Year award at a ceremony held at Pratt & Whitney’s Customer Training Center in East Hartford on April 24.
In an announcement letter to GBG, Pratt & Whitney stated that the award was in recognition of the company’s “quality and delivery execution, and exceptional customer focus partnering with several P&W’s business units in 2017.”
Pratt & Whitney’s Global Supply Chain organization established its Diversity Business Award program as a means to recognize those small businesses and diverse suppliers who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of quality, delivery, cost competitiveness, ACE tool utilization and other metrics deserving of recognition. GBG was selected from companies nominated by P&W business units.
“Our company recognizes that engaging with small and diverse businesses is not just the right thing to do, it also drives a better business overall,” P&W Supplier Diversity Manager Alton Moss said.
“It’s an honor and a privilege to work with a leading company like Pratt & Whitney,” GBG Sales & Marketing Manager Agnes Puchlik said. “Their commitment to supplier diversity has helped us demonstrate that it’s possible for a small, disadvantaged, minority, woman-owned business to successfully partner with a Fortune 50 company and achieve business benefits for both sides.”
The award came four months after GBG celebrated its 30-year anniversary.
GBG President and Fairfield native Charlotte O’Banion founded the company, originally known as “Gift Basket Gallery” in 1987. What started as a local, home-based business selling gift baskets to a handful of clients has since grown into a multi-million dollar company that provides several Fortune 500 companies with promotional goods, logo branded apparel, employee recognition programs, and warehousing and fulfillment services.
“Everyone at GBG was still excited about our 30th anniversary and receiving this award so soon afterward has really put us over the top,” O’Banion said. “It reaffirms the rewards that come with hard work, attention to detail, and consistently showing your customers that you care about them.”
