Monster Energy's Giulia Tanno Stomps Her Way to Silver in Women’s Ski Big Air Finals at X Games Norway 2018
Oslo, Norway (PRWEB) May 19, 2018 -- Monster Energy would like to congratulate Giulia Tanno for absolutely crushing Women’s Ski Big Air Finals at X Games Norway 2018. The 20-year-old, who hails from Switzerland, stomped her way to second place by landing the only double cork 1080 of the day, along with a switch 540 safety on her final hit.
Today’s event featured a new format, which required the competitors to spin two different directions (from left, right, switch right, switch left), rather than needing to spin both ways, as was the case at the X Games Ski Big Air event in Aspen earlier this year. This different format played a big part in today’s action-packed finals that included seven of the world’s best big air skiers.
Tanno looked poised and in control as she dropped into the massive scaffolding big air jump under the sunny skies in Oslo. She unleashed a massive left 1080 double cork safety on her very first hit. This set the tone for the contest, as her first hit was filled with smooth, technical style.
In the end, it all came down to Tanno’s last jump attempt. She was sitting in sixth place, and landed her last hit with a massive switch 540 safety grab. This catapulted her into second place, earning Tanno her first silver in X Games Ski Big Air.
“I am so happy to be out here, and to have put down that trick,” said Tanno following the event. “It feels really good to be back and on the podium,” she continued.
This marks Tanno’s fist big contest comeback after fracturing her arm this past January during practice at the X Games in Aspen.
