LOS ANGELES (PRWEB) June 14, 2018 -- When treating adolescents and young adults, it is critical to offer support and treatment to their families. Dr. Alec L. Miller, PsyD, co-founder and clinical director of Cognitive & Behavioral Consultants (CBC) in New York and internationally noted expert in DBT for adolescents and families, will teach you skills to enhance your work with younger clients and their families.
This Los Angeles workshop will focus on teaching orientation and commitment strategies to a younger client population, conducting a first session, targeting behaviors that interfere with treatment in clients and families, and addressing parent and teen/young adult life challenges and dialectical dilemmas.
By attending this workshop, participants will be able to:
1. Create a plan to build and strengthen a client's commitment to treatment.
2. Demonstrate knowledge of how to incorporate families in your work with teens and young adults, using a case study example.
3. Explain how to target therapy-interfering behaviors in individual clients and family members.
4. Describe several of the new skills taught in DBT and how to incorporate them into your practice.
This workshop is appropriate for both trained DBT therapists as well as those interested in applying DBT strategies into their work.
Six continuing education credits available for Psychologists, LPCCs, LCSWs, and LMFTs.
